先日のユナイテッド航空直行便停止に引き続き，私にとっては衝撃のニュースが！！

イントレピッド海上航空宇宙博物館の公式ページによると･･･

「The Intrepid To Go "On Leave"」
The Intrepid Museum will close to the public on October 1st, 2006 to prepare for needed renovations along with the rebuilding of Pier 86. The reconstruction and renovations are expected to take 18 months to complete, leading to a reopening of the museum in May 2008. The Intrepid Museum has been transformed over the past couple of years to include a number of new exhibits; the newest opened July 1st titled Heroic Journeys: Ordinary People Extraordinary Stories. Our collections have grown with the addition of British Airways Concorde and our educational programming has increased as well. The Intrepid is more interactive than ever and is sure to surpass your expectations. We encourage visitors to experience the Intrepid before she goes “On Leave” and explore these new exhibits and more. Our summer is filled with many “heroic” weekend events, unique promotions, and our Hometown Heroes Nomination campaign. Starting this fall, the Intrepid Museum’s Education Team will be offering our popular educational programs to schools and other community based organizations in the tri-state area through our “INTREPID SAILS” Traveling Programs.

おいらのコンコルドがーーーーーステルスがーーーーーー(T_T)･･･もうしばらく会えないのね･･･機械好きにはたまらないところなんですよね･･･

年内にニューヨークに行って，また見てくる予定だったのに！，どういうことよ！　かなりの衝撃でした･･･


というわけで，当面行けない記念として，昨年11月に行ったときの写真をちょっとだけ．

甲板上に展示されていたステルス戦闘機の実物．さすがに初代の古いステルス戦闘機ですが，実物に触れるというのは，ここ以外では考えられないですね．




甲板の上から，横を見ると，今はすでに引退したコンコルドが！　何とこのコンコルド，中を見ることができるようになっていて，コックピットも近くで見られます．中，狭いですよ〜





それにしても，返す返す残念です．新しくなるイントレピッド，期待してますよ！
